Hello there – just wanted to update you on my existing gig :-)

Just in case you missed it, I am running the Jakarta Post’s digital operation since July last year and now we already have two products: news and travel properties.

Besides the existing news site The Jakarta Post (http://thejakartapost.com), we just launched a travel site called The Jakarta Post Travel (http://jakpost.travel) that has articles, photos and videos on Indonesian destination. We have writer and editors in place, but also working with outside writers, bloggers and freelancer.

The reason why we picked up travel to be our new digital property: more than half of our news site readers are coming from overseas, so we assumed that if they wanted to know more about Indonesia or to visit Indonesia as well, they need credible and unique information on Indonesian destination. And as one of the country’s online content publishers, we tried to offer this kind of site.

In the meantime, we syndicated travel articles to big publishers like Yahoo! Southeast Asia and already appeared on Yahoo! Singapore, Yahoo! Malaysia and Yahoo! Philippines –and currently also working with some other big brands.

We just added a new feature to our travel site recently: a user generated content feature called Travelog that enable users to share interesting links on Indonesian destination. Check it out and start sharing your favorite links there: http://travelog.jakpost.travel/.

Actually, we still have some new features to be added — so stay tuned!
