From humble beginnings in 2002, the Ubud Writers & Readers Festival has evolved into one of the world’s most celebrated literary and artistic events – an annual pilgrimage for lovers of literature and conversation.
The 14th Ubud Writers & Readers Festival will return to Bali’s cultural capital from 25–29 October, 2017, and will be explored through the lens of this year’s theme, ‘Origins’. The full lineup of speakers has been announced.
“Alongside literary luminaries already announced – including Ian Rankin, Tim Flannery, Seno Gumira Ajidarma, Papermoon Puppet Theatre and Eko Supriyanto – we are pleased to be welcoming Wild Swans author Jung Chang, New York Times Bestseller Simon Winchester, leading Latin American writer Héctor Abad, author of the acclaimed The Dry Jane Harper, eminent poet and playwright Simon Armitage, and lifelong food traveler Joanna Savill,” wrote the organizer.
