Think social media; don’t worry about SEO

Posted on November 11, 2010 by in Tech

DEAR BLOGGERS, INVEST YOUR TIME ON SOCIAL MEDIA NOW. Blogger Gary Arndt suggests that, for the majority of bloggers, social media is better investment than SEO (search engine optimization) because “social media solves the authority dilemma” while search engine like “Google loves brands“. Besides coming up with good contents, bloggers could engage conversation across social media outlets, “something a faceless brand can never do.”

How about search-algorithms thing? Yeah, indeed, you don’t need to ignore it –because to some extent search engine still needs it– but also don’t need to worry. Just “make sure your permalinks make sense, create a site map, install the appropriate plugins … and then stop worrying about it.” That’s all!

Cool?

Google updates toolbar PageRank for New Years 2010

Posted on January 1, 2010 by in Tech

Is anyone still using Google’s PageRank? It’s an important update for publishers or those who love to see and follow the link analysis algorithm. Google assigns a numeric weighting from 0-10 for each webpage. Yeah, sometimes people love figures!

To kick off the 2010, Google is currently exporting the PageRank values to the Google Toolbar. Yes, there are major reports of a Google Toolbar PageRank update taking place right now.

This may become a New Years tradition for Google. Last year, Google pushed out a PageRank update for New Years 2009. I wonder why they make the push right before New Years? Maybe because it is slower for Googlers and less going on? I am not sure.
