Microsoft Surface Pro in Review

Microsoft Surface Pro hits the street today and tech sites begin to review the first ever Microsoft-branded Windows 8 tablet. The hardware is fantastic, but overall it doesn’t give the wow factor to compete head-to-head against iPad, the current champion of tablet business. Engadget sums it up as: “We’re confident Microsoft will keep refining Windows 8 to make the OS as a whole more seamlessly tablet-friendly, and we look forward to testing the dozens of touch-friendly hybrid and convertible devices due this year, but sadly Microsoft’s second tablet doesn’t have us reaching for our credit cards. Not quite yet.”

Instagram now can be accessed on the web

From mobile to web, now Instagram can be accessed easily from its website instagram.com. The mobile first app now broaden its market and hopefully will be able to grab more users. The experience is pretty much similar to its mobile app. As stated by Kevin Systrom in the blog, Instagram Feed on the web functions much like it does on your mobile phone. You can browse through the latest photos of people whom you follow with updates as people post new photos. Like photos by double clicking on them or pressing the like button. Or, engage in a conversation around a photo with inline commenting.

Dell is acquired by Michael Dell and Silver Lake

Dell finally announces the decision to go private and being acquired by consortium led by Michel Dell and Silver Lake Partners. Microsoft also part of the financing consortium by loaning $2 billion. Dell stakeholders to receive $13.65 per share with total value at approximately $24.4 billion. The go private idea has been proposed by Michael Dell to Board of Directors since August 2012.

Twitter welcomes Bluefin Group in its family

Twitter welcomes Bluefin Group as the latest part to be acquired by the company. According to Twitter Blog, this acquisition reflects Twitter’s commitment to the social TV market, and builds on exclusive partnership with Nielsen announced in December to develop the Nielsen Twitter TV Rating, the centerpiece of social TV measurement based on Nielsen’s SocialGuide platform. Twitter believes that Bluefin’s data science capabilities and social TV expertise will help us create innovative new ad products and consumer experiences in the exciting intersection of Twitter and TV.

OUYA to begin selling via Amazon

OUYA, an Android-powered video game console funded on crowd-funding site Kickstarter, will begin selling through Amazon, Gamestop and several other retailers. Reported by WSJ, pre-orders for both consoles and controllers will start being accepted this Tuesday, in advance of retail availability in June 2013. Additional retailers include Target and Best Buy, who will sell the console for about $100.
