The “sex blogger couple”, Alvin Tan Jye Yee and Vivian Lee, has created another major scandal. This time without even dropping of their clothes [like their previous case with their explicit sex blog called Sumptuous Erotica in October last year], but with their offensive Facebook post.
Last Thursday, in a photo posted on their Facebook fanpage, the couple depicting them eating a pork dish called bak kut teh with Ramadhan greeting. The holy text of Quran explicitly mentioned that Muslims are prohibited from consuming pork.
As expected, their post was attacked by complaints from netizens. “Their latest publicity stunt has gone a little too far, and now they’re paying for it with Facebook permanently shutting down their account on Saturday,” Yahoo! Newsroom wrote.
Tan said that they posted the greeting for “no reason. Just a joke, I guess”. However, late on Sunday,
he appeared to come around and admitted the couple’s latest publicity stunt was “the stupidest one” ever and “even I had to admit it. We, were, wrong.”
The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission said they will take any action necessary. The couple is expected to surrender to police soon, Bernama news agency reports. The controversial couple can be charged under several laws, according to The Star.
Tan, a former law scholar at the National University of Singapore (NUS) and Lee, become one of biggest media sensations in Singapore and Malaysia and keep “giving endless interviews and turning themselves into self-proclaimed ‘sex gurus’.” They also launched a YouTube channel called ‘Sexcussions’ to dish out advice on sex in January.
